Marc Bolan and T Rex: A Chronology
Marc Bolan and T Rex: A Chronology
Marc Bolan, along with Alice Cooper, Harry Nilsson, Keith Moon, and the original Alice Cooper Band recorded a version of "Coconut" which has never been released.

Bolan was a member of T. Rex. T. Rex's "Chariot Choogle" is heard in a scene in Son of Dracula.

Mark Feld was born on September 30, 1947, in London, England. He died on September 16, 1977.

At 15, Feld modeled suits in photographs for a catalog and shop displays. After that, Feld turned to acting and landed a few small television parts. But music was his passion.

Inspired by The Lord of the Rings Feld wrote and recorded a song called "The Wizard." Decca planned to release the song as a single with the artist listed as "Marc Bowland." Feld objected to the name, but agreed to use the name "Marc Bolan."

In the late 1960s, Bolan formed the group Tyrannosaurus Rex (later shortened to T. Rex).

The group produced a string of hits in the UK. "Bang A Gong (Get It On)" also hit the top 10 in the US.

Bolan starred in the 1972 film Born to Boogie. In the mid 1970s, Bolan moved into punk music.

On September 16, 1977, Bolan and his girlfriend, Gloria Jones were in a car accident. Bolan was killed.
