Carlos Brown

Carlos Alan Autry was born on July 31, 1952, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

When Autry was young, his parents divorced and his mother moved with him to California and changed their last name to her maiden name, "Brown."

Autry was a star quarterback in high school and was received a scholarship to play for the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. He graduated with a B.A. and was was drafted by the Green Bay Packers.

While with the Packers, a friend introduced Autry to director Robert Altman. Later, when Autry's football career ended, Autry contacted Altman. Autry appeared in several films as "Carlos Brown." After meeting his estranged father in 1981, Autry returned to using his birth name Alan Autry.

In 1988, Autry began his role as "Bubba Skinner" in the TV series "In The Heat of the Night." The series aired through 1995.

In 1997, Autry formed a production company in Fresno, California where he lived. Autry was elected Mayor of Fresno on November 7, 2000, but plans to continue his acting career.
