Martin Scorsese

Martin Scorsese was born on November 17, 1942, in Queens, New York.

Scorsese entered a seminary in 1956, but then decided to pursue a career in filmmaking. After graduating from New York University, Scorsese taught for a while and directed short subjects. After working as an assistant director for a couple of films, Scorsese was hired by Roger Corman to direct Boxcar Bertha in 1972.

In 1973, Scorsese produced and directed Mean Streets. Scorsese's other films include Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, The Last Waltz, Goodfellas, and Casino.
