George W. Meyer

George W. Meyer was born on January 1, 1894, in Boston, Massachusetts. He died on August 28, 1959, in .

Myer taught himself to play the piano. After high school, worked as an electrician and then in the accounting department of a Boston store. After moving to New York, he worked in several stores before becoming a "Song Plugger" in Tin Pan Alley.

Meyer composed many popular songs from the 1900s through the 1940s such as "For Me And My Gal", "Mandy," and "There Are Such Things."
