|The Point! has been staged as a play a number of times. Esquire Jauchem adapted
Harry Nilsson's The Point! for the Boston Repertory Theater stage in 1975.
In 1976 and 1977, Micky Dolenz and Davy Jones (both formerly of The Monkees) starred in the
play at the Mermaid Theatre in London, England. Colin Bennett directed the play and a cast album
of the songs was released.
In 1991 the play was revived at the Chapel Court Theater of the Hollywood United Methodist Church
with choreography by Janet Eilber.

I am looking for a copy of the play version of Harry Nilsson's "The Point" for a middle school performance. I know that there was an adaptation by Esquire Jaucem (England), but cannot seem to located information on obtaining the script.
Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Unfortunately, I don't know where to go or who to ask to get the rights to perform "The Point!" as a play. It may be a legal mess with many different people and companies owning rights to different elements of the play. -- Webmaster

Would love for the students at Next Generation Theatre in Brewer Maine to be able to perform this great story which is still significant. I fondly remember getting the "point" to the story as a young child and this is still able to make an impact on children of all ages. How can a group get the rights to this musical?

I am an actor/storyteller hailing from Indianapolis. I've loved Harry Nillsson since John & Paul mentioned him on The Tonight Show. I've been touring Elementary schools since 1987, and for 11 years also touring with Dave Hepler a renowned Jazz pianist. We would like to present The Point as story & song in schools, but have no idea of the rights for doing so in that venue. The story & music are, of course exceptional..and the message is still oh so topical. I would also like to do it to bring Nilsson to a whole new generation. Any suggestions, we tour with a non-profit nationwide organization, Young Audiences.

In this day and age when bullying is such a big issue as well as the need to foster tolerance, this musical play has an important role.
It would be a great piece for youth theater and traveling companies that visit schools. We have a wonderful Youth Theater Apprentice program here in WV that has won national awards.
I truly hope there can be a way to put this material in the hands of those who want to share its message.
