Maurice Chevalier was born in 1888 in Paris, France. He starred in his first Hollywood musical Innocents of Paris in 1929. Chevalier appeared in many films, earning Oscar nominations for The Love Parade and The Big Pond. In 1959 he received a special Academy Award for his contributions to the world of entertainment.

Chevalier's last recording was the title song in the Disney movie The Aristocats in 1970.

Chavalier died in Paris on January 1, 1972.
