Jane Getz

Jane Getz was a classical piano child prodigy at age six. After her mother took her to see Billie Holiday at the Hollywood Bowl, Getz fell in love with jazz music.

At 12, Getz was already playing with notable jazz musicians, and at 16 she left school and travelled to New York, New York, to pursue a career in music.

During eight years in New York, Getz worked with many jazz artists including Charles Mingus, Stan Getz, Herbie Mann, and Freddie Hubbard. "I worked with the greats. People were very protective of me and I never had a problem." She also recorded with Jimi Hendrix a few weeks before his death.

In the early 1970s, Getz moved back to Los Angeles, California, and became a studio musician. Getz played sessions for Ringo Starr, John Lennon, Don Henley, and many others.

Getz still lives in LA and performs regularly at local venues. See continues to record with jazz notables and plays every Sunday at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.

Jane Getz is sooo awesome--a great jazz pianist. If you are not familiar with her, and you get a chance to go and see her in the Los Angeles vicinity: http://dalefielder.com/itinerary.html believe me, you'll be thrilled you did!
