Eugene Troobnick was born on August 23, 1926, in Boston, Massachusetts. He died on February 19, 2003, in Seattle, Washington.

Troobnick was a founding member of Second City.

Troobnick was a member of the cast of the 1964 television series, "That Was the Week That Was." He made many guest appearances on televisions shows including "Kojak," "The Bob Newhart Show," and "Law & Order." He appeared in a number of films including Funny Lady and Deconstructing Harry.

In the early 1990s, Troobnick played Stavros Kouperakis in the TV soap opera "The Guiding Light."
