Gustav Gerson Kahn was born on November 6, 1886, in Germany. He died on October 8, 1941.
Kahn moved with his family to Chicago, Illinois when he was four years old. He wrote music for Vaudeville acts then for Broadway and Hollywood musicals. Kahn's best-known songs include "Carolina In The Morning," "Side by Side," "Toot Toot Tootsie Goodbye," "It Had to Be You", "Yes Sir, That's My Baby," and "Makin' Whoopee!".
