Jennifer Saunders was born on July 12, 1958, in Sleaford, England. While attending the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, England, Saunders met Dawn French. Saunders and French began performing at The Comedy Store then at The Comic Strip.
In 1987, Saunders and French starred in their own TV series, "French and Saunders." A sketch performed in the show, "The Modern Mother and Daughter," inspired their next series.
"Absolutely Fabulous" premiered in 1992 and became a hit in England and, later, a cult favorite in the US.
