Jerry Nelson

The Muppet Show: Season 1
The Muppet Show: Season 1
The Muppets performed an alternate version of Harry Nilsson's "Coconut" during an episode aired in the fourth season of The Muppet Show. Fozzie Bear introduces the song which is performed by Kermit the Frog (Jim Henson), a Nurse (Louise Gold), and a Doctor (Jerry Nelson). As they sing, Kermit lies in a hospital bed suffering from a "severely twisted flipper."

Jerry Nelson was born on July 10, 1934, in Oklahoma.

Nelson is a puppeteer, actor, and musician. Nelson temporarily joined Jim Henson's Muppets as a replacement for Frank Oz who had been drafted into the services in the 1960s. After Oz returned, Nelson worked with the Muppets from titme to time until the 1970s when he re-joined the Muppets full-time.
